A patient with a family history of heart disease, diabetes, and other "scary" things chose to get dna testing to know what he is really facing. His wife wants the whole family tested. She feels that their 4 children will have a chance at a much more positive future with better nutrition! Good Going AF! That's the way to apply cutting edge science to your family's healthier future!

A friend called to tell me his life was saved by GeneWize! His report came back with a complete genetic lack of the vitamin D receptor. This means "certain death" for osteoporosis. He has immediately taken steps to change his nutritional program that will supplement the missing pieces so that his bones can stay strong as he ages. He is already 50+ and tells me his mother is a "whopping 4'10" because of the spinal fractures due to osteoporosis. His brother was diagnosed with osteoporosis, too. It looks like he has a chance to avert this genetic disaster!

Last night, we had a "family swabbing!" My parents, husband and I all collected our cheek swab samples and had them ready to put in the mail in 10 minutes. We are excited to find out what comes back. I am looking forward to doing the three kids, too.

How to Explain Our Science

I'm not a scientist and I don't know much about DNA, but I discovered "The Butterfly" -- a way to explain our science so that just about everyone understands it.

A caterpillar that turns into a butterfly has the same DNA when it's a caterpillar and when it's a butterfly.

If the caterpillar doesn't get the right amount of the right nutrients it will never turn into a butterfly -- it's genes won't express themselves as they should.

If the caterpillar does get the right amount of the right nutrients its genes will express themselves fully and it will become a butterfly.
